Great Night at Bowling

The new Junior Blades U8 team held a very successful team bonding event at Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday night.

16 players turned up and had a great time and it was a great opportunity for the kids to meet one another away from the football field.

The Junior Blades are keen to promote the “fun” element of Junior football and this season every age group will be focussing on regular events away from the football pitch to encourage a strong and positive team spirit and also give the kids enjoyment and fun both on and off the pitch as well.

The turnout was great and the smiles, hugs and cheering with every spare and strike gave me the impression that everyone was having a fun time. We have only been together as a team for 3 weeks so I thought it was important to put on a bit of a social event to get the kids familiar with one another and create some friendships. We have a great group of kids and parents and I’m really looking forward to seeing the team develop over the upcoming season.

Latest Trials and Training Information

Who are the Junior Blades??

We are a FA Charter Standard football club for boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 18.

We were formed in 1981 and have nine age groups ranging from Under 7 to Under 18 as well as a Nursery squad for 4-6 year olds.

We are based at St Georges Park Norton, a state of the art football facility which was built in 2016 by the FA.

We generally train on Wednesday evenings and play league matches on Sundays.

We have teams playing in the Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League and the Meadowhall & Bud Evans DB Sports Sheffield & District Sunday Football League.

Our club currently has approximately 130 players and is run by a group of 20 volunteers.

If you would like anymore information on the Club then please email us at info@juniorblades.co.uk and we will get back to you within 24 hours.

Players of the Day

Each week at training we reward two players with players of the day trophies. One award is for Player of the Day itself. This tends to go to the player that has demonstrated that they have learnt the skill or technique we have practiced at the start of the session and has managed to apply that new skill into the practice match at the end of the session. The most improved trophy then goes to the player that has shown the best attitude in training, either through effort and hard work or for listening and trying really hard in the session.

All the winners get to keep the trophy for a week and they also get a Junior Blades medal which they get to keep forever.

Past Winners

Kids at the younger age groups like our U8 love the player of the day concept and the opportunity to win something for trying really hard or doing really well. We also find that it increases the effort levels from all of the players and makes the sessions much more fun and enjoyable.

Junior Blades U8 Bowling Night at Hollywood Bowl

On Tuesday 4th June the Junior Blades U8 are holding a bowling night at Hollywood Bowl in Sheffield.

18 players will go head to head on the Lanes in a team building event to help the kids get to know each other better and develop a strong team spirit within the group.

I think its important that we expose the kids to different places and environments and give them an opportunity to get to know one another and to make friends away from the pitch and away from school from time to time. Our team is brand new for the upcoming season and although a lot of the players already know one another, I want to encourage all of the players to become friends. At this age group the focus has to be on developing the kids and I try to encourage development both on and off the football pitch.

We will upload some photos from the night and hope every one involved has a good time.

U8s at Millmoor Festival

Our brand new U8 team took part in the Millmoor Festival and gave a great account of themselves. Both teams finished runner up in their groups and it was a really positive start to the upcoming season.

Carter picked up the Player of the Day for Team 1 and Brody for Team 2

For our first ever organised games of football I was very pleased. We were struggling with the positional side of the game but I cannot fault the effort levels and the hardwork that each and every player put into the mornings play.
