Our u12 girls faced a good Huddersfield town side

Our u12 girls faced a good Huddersfield town side away in their 1st game of the season, in a higher league. the blades started very slow and was caught out by 2 quick fire goals in the first 5 minutes, then one either side of half time gave them a mountain to climb, but they dug deep and didn’t give up and was well in the game in the second half and they got something to show for their efforts grabbing a late consolation goal, overall a decent game which they grew into, plenty to work on going forward, onwards and upwards, girls of the game were Mavis, Phoebe and Laila 👏👏

Junior Blades are saddened to hear about the young

Junior Blades are saddened to hear about the young football player Riley Townsend who sadly passed away at the age of just 12 years old. As a Club our thoughts are with Rileys family, friends and all who knew him.

All 21 Junior Blades teams will be holding a minutes applause/silence to remember and pay our respects to Riley.

STATEMENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA
On the 1st of September this beautiful beautiful boy Riley Townsend at just 12 years of age fell asleep and gained his angel wings. Riley was suffering from adhd/autism and the worst.. mental health issues. Riley was the kindest and loveable child and the highlight of any party. With his cheekiness and cute little face Riley would make anyone smile. Such a polite kid. But unfortunately due to his mental health decided he couldn’t cope in this world no more and took is own life. Being apart of some well know football clubs TERVERSAL FC & KIRKBY COLTS FC in the Ashfield area as of many children, Riley was football crazy. Being a super midfielder to a superstar centre back and occasionally sneaking in for his cracking goals. I’m asking you all as coaches/parents/referees if this weekend just before your first K.O of the season please could you spare 1 mins silence for this beautiful boy 12 is no age to be taking your own life and I want his parents to know we are with them

Well done to Abdul and Josh who were man of the match in the U13 game v Thorncliffe last week. Abdul was a threat all game and deserved a couple of goals for his efforts while Josh was a rock at the back winning key headers and tackles throughout the game and making important interceptions.

U7s whites team travelled to their first away match at 7 hills, we had a bare 5 to play the match but despite this everyone worked exceptionally hard and came out on top. A real physical test from the home side today who will be very competitive come the season.

U7 whites played a friendly today against Brinswor

U7 whites played a friendly today against Brinsworth Whitehill in preparation for the upcoming new season. The whites were able to keep a clean sheet! The game was rounded off with some penalties where some good shots and saves were made from both teams.

The passing, positional play and teamwork was excellent today probably the best we have seen. Very encouraging for everyone involved and excited for the league to start. A couple of more friendlies scheduled so lots to work on still.

Todays MOM was Samuel who was a rock in defence and his passing was on point getting the team forward despite pressure from the opposing team 🏅

The U13 Blacks enjoyed a deserved 3-2 win against

The U13 Blacks enjoyed a deserved 3-2 win against Eckington thanks to a dramatic last minute penalty.

The visitors started quickly in the sunshine and were soon 1 nil up from close range, before man of the match Aleks equalised for the Blades with a magnificent punt from half way.

This gave the lads confidence and they dominated for the rest of the half, assured in defence and creating a series of chances in attack. Riley went close from Oscar’s overhead. Alfie’s powerful drive was tipped round the post and Ethan’s spot kick was saved at full length after the quick-footed Gerrard was fouled.

The second half was more even as the two sides traded blows. Dexter in the Blades net saving well from distance before Jake hit the base of the post after great interplay with Ethan. Then the Blades nudged in front as Jib was released down the left by Ethan and he scored expertly from a tight angle.

Eckington hit back with a equaliser following some late pressure, before the final penalty twist. Jib slamming his spot kick home after he had himself been tripped in the box.
