It’s only a week to go now until the second Sheffield United Junior Blades golf day. This time the event is being held at Dore & Totley Golf Course on Friday 17th July

Again we have been overwhelmed by the support for the event and proud to say we currently have 20 teams and 80 players taking part.

The event will begin at 9am with a shotgun start and players will be playing a stableford, 2 out of 4 to count format. Players will be playing off 3/4 handicaps!

Last year Mike O’Connor, Ben O’Connor and Robert Dowd were victorious but who will be the new 2020 champions.

Sheffield United Junior Blades 1981 would like to welcome 3 new coaches to the Club – Corey, Mark and Simon who will be taking on our new U7 team.

All 3 are already excited to get going and have collected the new balls and football equipment ready for next season.

Last year was a fantastic season for the Club and during the lockdown period our players, coaches and parents have been sharing memories and photos with each other as we patiently wait for the football to resume.

Some of our age groups have already returned to some form of social distance training now and we are gearing up for a return to our home ground – St Georges Graves – very soon, once they re-open.

The Junior Blades U18, will proudly bear the name of a business synonomous with the city of Sheffield, in the form of City Taxis for the 2020/21 season.

Club Chairman, Chris Slack was delighted that the Club had managed to secure such a high profile sponsor.

I actually went to school with City Taxis, MD, Arnie Singh and I’m really proud that nearly 20 years on, we are still in touch and our paths regularly cross whether its through work, corporate golf days or in this instance via our love for grassroots football.

As the Club gears up for returning to training we have released a “RETURN TO PLAY GUIDANCE” document for all of our players

In addition, we have filmed a short video clip of how training should be once we do return, so that it is as safe as possible for all players, coaches and parents.

The Junior Blades are delighted to announce that Metgas have agreed to sponsor our U7 team next season.

Metgas MD, Michael Ellis-Thomas, got involved with the Junior Blades last season as a coach for the U8 team and we are really pleased that he has agreed to sponsor our new U7 team for the 2020/21 season. After reaching out for sponsorship we have been overwhelmed with interest and the support from Metgas and the sponsorship money will make a huge difference for the Club especially after last season was abruptly cut short.

We will be working hard over the next few months to promote Metgas and we encourage all of our players and their families to visit the Metgas website – www.metgas.co.uk and use the company for any plumbing, boiler or heating needs.
